Lawrence Dream, a struggling actor in 1969 Los Angeles, is struggling to get by. Thanks to a walk on role on a soap opera, he’s still landing roles. His agent, with a premonition that his acting career is only going to go downhill, tells him to travel to California’s “insane” West Coast to try and score an apprenticeship on a Western set, but instead ends up setting him up with an appointment to see the notorious Helmut Newton. What happens after this appointment may just have the power to change Dream’s destiny forever.

Leonardo DiCaprio plays Richie DiCaprio. He is an up-and-coming actor who travels from New York to Hollywood in 1969 to work on an upcoming film. When he gets there, he’s just starting out, and so he winds up taking a job on a film that’s being filmed by Quentin Tarantino.
He meets Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth, who is playing a movie stunt man. That’s actor Sharon Tate in the picture, as well as Roman Polanski’s character, and Rick Dalton, the TV star who believes himself to be on the verge of becoming a Hollywood big shot.
Those other two are in town to see Tate, who is actor Sharon Tate’s sister and married to director Roman Polanski. As they move around, other people come into their orbit.
Jason Clarke is Eric Roth, the British actor who will be featured in this film as Charles Manson. Manson was responsible for the brutal murders of Tate, Polanski and four others in 1969.
Another famous actor in the cast is Scoot McNairy. McNairy is a relative newcomer to Hollywood, having not yet hit the mainstream. He plays Marvin Sharon Tate, the one-time fiance of Sharon Tate, who was killed in the Tate murders.
